BLACKPINK: THE SHOW [Online Concert Review]

Image
BLACKPINK had their online concert THE SHOW via a Youtube Livestream on 01/31/2021 which I was very happy with as it made it extremely easy to stream the concert to my TV and enjoy from the concert from my own home.  I had personally never seen BLACKPINK perform live before and I really hope that one day in the future I'll be able to because this concert just proves how stellar BLACKPINK are as performers. It was a mix of both live and pre-recorded stages, and I definitely preferred the live stages even though the pre-recorded stages sounded more polished, there's just something special about hearing a performer sing live and really feeling the effort that they put into the performance.  If you didn't get a chance to watch it, the performance of Pretty Savage that was aired on The Late Late Show with James Corden was actually the exact same version of the performance that streamed in the concert. Definitely give it a look below if you haven't seen it yet!  The majority ...

MNET's new K-pop Survival Show - Girls Planet 999 [Flop or Not?]

Image
So Mnet is at it again with another K-pop Survival Show Girls Planet 999 . Applications are still currently ongoing until February 21 and the show has a predicted start date towards the end of 2021 which is good as it gives a break from their current ongoing show CAP-TEEN.  Here's a teaser for the show below: What do I currently think and hope for the show? Personally I loved all of the Produce series even though I knew that it was most likely rigged, but there's just something about seeing the trainee's hard work and performances that really continue to draw me to these survival shows even though after each one I promise myself that I wouldn't watch another one. With this show I'm hoping that it will do well and that whatever group comes out of it is successful. Also given the Produce shows and their track record rigging the votes I truly hope they just let the audience decide the members fairly without any vote manipulation. Or maybe they can go with a Sixteen st...

The End of GOT7

Image
So contract renewals for GOT7 are up and a lot of news outlets are reporting that the members of GOT7 are going to be signing with other agencies. Jinyoung has reportedly been in talks with BH Entertainment to continue his acting career and Yugyeom has reportedly been in talks with AOMG Entertainment to pursue a solo career. There have been no official statements from JYP Entertainment regarding whether all members are going to renew or otherwise, but various GOT7 members have been tweeting their support for all members to stick together. Mark's Tweet about GOT7 staying as seven What does this mean for GOT7?  It seems like GOT7 wants to continue promoting together as seven members but it does not look like they want to renew their contracts with JYP Entertainment, which in my opinion is very fair considering the lack of support they have received from the company. Compared to the promotion of Twice, GOT7 has had very few comebacks comparably and if you're not following any GOT7...

Hello everyone! So when you think there's a K-pop drought towards the end of the year, lack of new releases and such, that's when you get hit with all the performances from end of the year K-pop song festivals such as KBS Song Festival, MBC Music Festival, Asia Artist Awards and more! So with that being said I'm going to post some of my favorite stages and why I think they're great! Feel free to comment with your favorite stages as well! IZ*ONE's Lee Chaeyeon & Itzy's Lee Chaeryeong Collab Stage 2 extremely talented sisters on one stage need I say more? This was the collaboration that fans of the Lee sisters were waiting for and they did not disappoint! Itzy - Not Shy [Review]

Image
After their last song  Wannabe , Itzy is back at it again in their signature girl power, girl crush theme with Not Shy . My initial thoughts after listening to Not Shy the first time was how did the song go again? There was no catchy hooks like in their previous releases and the song was trying to rely more on its instrumentals rather than having coherent melodies.   After more listens I did come to enjoy the song more -- especially after watching the dance performance which elevated the song because the dance is amazing and Itzy really killed this choreography. However so far this is my least favorite song of their title tracks. I'm not a huge fan of talk-singing which they do in a lot of their songs, this song took it up a notch where like 70% of the song is talk-singing (not quite rapping, not quite singing, honestly that's the best way I can describe it). One of the other major issues that I have with this song is that there was no climax. When Chaeryeong said "Let t...

Welcome to Kpop Rabbit

Hi everyone and welcome to my blog! From the title of the blog, you can guess what it's going to be about, yes Kpop! Just to give a little insight about me, I have been a fan of Kpop since around 2008/2009 so I've been following the industry for a long time and have seen Kpop change significantly throughout the years.  With that being said I have a lot of opinions about certain issues surrounding Korean pop, Korean culture and Korean dramas, which I've always wanted to write about but never got around to... But hey when it's 2020 and you're stuck in quarantine there's no better time to start than now!  So thanks for stopping by and I hope to engage in good conversation and provide different perspectives on all things Korean pop culture!  ~kpoprabbit
